We are excited to welcome you to the Spartan Nation and are proud that you have chosen to become part of our college family. Your decision to join us is an important step toward a bright and rewarding future, and we are committed to supporting you every step of the way.
At James Sprunt Community College, our programs are designed to lead to meaningful careers and long-term success. We believe your achievements here will have a lasting impact not only on your life but also on our community, our state, and beyond.
Our roots run deep in Duplin County, beginning in 1784 with the founding of Grove Academy. Named in honor of Dr. James Menzies Sprunt, who became its president in 1845, our College carries forward a proud tradition of excellence in education, built on a foundation of respect, compassion, and professionalism.
As you walk our campus, visit classrooms, and engage with faculty and fellow students, we hope you will feel the care and attention we’ve put into creating a welcoming and dynamic learning environment-one that reflects the values of a 21st-century college.
We are here to help you succeed-from your first class to the day you walk across the stage to receive your certificate, diploma, or degree. Our faculty and staff are dedicated to helping you achieve your goals and celebrate your success.
Once again, welcome to James Sprunt Community College. We are honored to have you here. If you ever need anything, please know that my door is always open.
Sincerely,

Jay Carraway, Ed. D.
